We need to talk

I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve been kind of distant lately— less frequent posts, fewer tweets, hardly anything on the fan page. It doesn’t help that I’m in Mexico now, where I keep my phone on airplane mode all the time and only have Internet access when I’m in a wi-fi zone, which is not all the time. I guess I use my phone for updates more than I realized.

But I know. This all started back when I was still in Texas. Actually, I think the exact moment was when my wheels flew off. Can’t say that things have been the same since.

Let’s be clear here now: I’m not breaking up with you; I just need a little time apart. I’ve been avoiding you, doing the bare minimum to act like things are normal, but they’re not. There’s a certain spark missing. The passion is gone, basically, and because you have done absolutely nothing wrong, I can only assume it’s me. That’s right. You heard me: it’s not you; it’s me. I just need some space, some time to think. I need to sit down with all these notes that I have and all these audio files and just figure out what the hell it is I’m doing here and where I want to go with it.

And so I’m going to take a little hiatus from this blog and make sure that I’m still on the right path.

I am not sure how long this interlude is going to last. Probably for a few weeks. The reason I’m in Mexico right now is to renew my working visa, because as the legal representative of the business here, I have to keep my papers current. It’s a process that can take anywhere from— oh, hell. I don’t know how long it’s going to take but I’m pretty sure that as long as I am here, waiting for immigration to accept or deny my application, I will be doing my own thing behind the scenes, writing and researching and reading. I have not yet decided what to do about the podcasts but I will definitely still be tweeting, just maybe not as much, and then you can always come on here anytime and leave a comment. I’ll write back.

Anyhow. I’m sorry. I just think it’s for the best and besides, we’re not breaking up; remember? I mean, we’ll still be friends and then we’re totally getting back together again. I think. Right? I mean, I guess I’m assuming you’ll want me back but it’s true that you could meet someone new. There are certainly enough fantastic bloggers out there to choose from, so I can’t blame you, if you move on.

In the meantime, I’m leaving with you some memories from Texas, because god bless that’s a huge state and it took rather good care of me during the six or seven weeks that I was there.

Oh, no. That’s not the plan at all. The making up will be sweet, for sure.

Mexico tends to do this to you… rest, relax, rejuvenate, restore. Selfishly, I’m delighted!

Yes, yes it does. Every. Single. Time. Can’t say you don’t have anything to do with it, either, Mr. Easy Breezy, Let’s Play Scrabble All Day and Oh, Look, I Attracted More Crazy Fun People to My Hotel to Distract You from Writing.

I will miss you and will be jealous of you while you are in your hell in Mexico. I could do with a little bit of hell with tropical paradise scattered here and there. . .

Try to enjoy (between the bits of beaurocratic BS) and we’ll see you when you get back.

Oh, yes. I am not going to deny the scattered paradise. Not too much to complain about here, really. Well, not yet, anyhow.

Gorgeous photos, Margaret. That sapphire blue sky never failed you.
I sure will miss your posts while you’re on hiatus. That Mexican heat
    would drain anybody.

I’m glad you liked the photos, since the sole purpose of the entire campaign was merely to get you to visit. Did it work?

I think I’ll miss them, too, and I know; I had to double-check my math on the dates myself. Time flies when you’re on Craigslist all the time (that one was for Chris)

Those are wistful photos- making me wistful! Love the Saratoga Hotel images. Did you go to the Blanton? Isn’t it gorgeous on the inside, and hideous on the outside? That’s my take, anyways.

Aw, thanks. I did indeed go to the Blanton and yes, you have a point. Rather like a clam shell; right?
