Note No. 13

January 24, 2009

If I were superstitious, I would have labeled this note No. 14, like builders do when they skip the 13th floor on a building, but I didn’t, so you might want to cross yourself about now.

Anyway, how are we all doing? It’s the new year and everyone should be well into their resolutions by now. Me (see Note No. 11)? Well, I haven’t written my first thank-you note and I’m not studying German, nor am I reading the paper much, but I did get off the island last Sunday, when I went to Playa del Carmen with my sis and some good friends (should I be using names and tagging people in my Notes?), and I am searching for airfare to go to Spain in June, and I did download a new album this month, and I am staying up late once in awhile, so I suppose I am somewhat on track.

Question: is there ever going to be a day when we are all speaking in the third person, a la our Facebook statuses? I sometimes find myself (I reiterate: sometimes) narrating my every move like, “Margaret Goerig has developed a disturbing habit of spelling phonetically (even though her mom says she has always done it)” or “Margaret Goerig wants to know why her right eye won’t stop twitching” or “Margaret Goerig just killed a mosquito on her leg and got blood on her hand.” Maybe I’m the only one who does that.

More exciting news from my end? Well, the hotel is full and it has been reviewed favorably quite a few times on Trip Advisor, and the new housekeepers are kicking some serious ass, and my sis just came for like, the best visit ever (and I am not just saying that because I got an iPod and two new bikinis and some hip jewelry and a rad T-shirt out of it), and my dad is coming on Tuesday to see if he can thaw out over the next two weeks, and I am still trying to do a little nesting here (I bought an apron!) but I have not found a sofa yet, so keep posted on that one, because I might have a party on it, when it finally moves in.

Otherwise, it’s a glorious day, sunny and breezy and clear-skied, and I finally walked Blackie yesterday and I am going to do it again today, and tomorrow is Sunday and life is good.
